Prof. Ir. Nazaruddin, M.T., Ph.D., was born in Medan on August 1, 1960, and is a lecturer in Industrial Engineering. He has been actively teaching at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), since 1989. Nazaruddin completed his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management at USU in 1986, followed by a Master's degree from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1994, and earned his Ph.D. in Technology Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
He has held various academic leadership positions, including serving as the Secretary of the Industrial Engineering Department at USU from 1996 to 1999, Coordinator of the D-IV Program in Factory Engineering and Management (1999-2000), Secretary of the P2T USU (2000-2005), Special Advisor to the USU Rector for General Administration (2005-2010), and Head of the Center for Industrial Studies and Human Resources at the USU Research Institute (2005-2010). Additionally, he served as the Secretary of the Master's Program in Management at SPS USU (2010-2017), Chair of the Master's and Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering (2017-2021), and a member of the USU Academic Senate (2017-2021).
Nazaruddin is also an accomplished author, with several books to his name, including "Opportunities in Small Industries and Tourism" (USU Press), "Technology Management" (Graha Ilmu Jogjakarta), "Basic Guidelines and Concepts of Entrepreneurship" (Yayasan Cendikia Mulia Mandiri), and "Technology Acceptance Model" (Cendikia Mulia Mandiri).
He is actively involved in research and professional organizations, having served as the Chair of the Professional Development Division of the Indonesian Engineers Association in North Sumatra (2015-2019), Vice Chair of the University Network for Indonesian Infrastructure Development (UNIID) from 2016 to 2019, and Expert Council member of the Indonesian Farmers and Fishermen Association in North Sumatra (2015-2019). Currently, he is a member of the Expert Council of the Indonesian Electricity Society in North Sumatra (2021-present) and a member of the Industry, Energy, and Environment Division of the North Sumatra Provincial Research and Innovation Council (2021-2026).
Nazaruddin has received numerous awards, including the Supersemar Foundation Scholarship (1984-1986), Outstanding Lecturer I at USU (1995), the 10-Year Satya Lencana from the President of Indonesia (2001), a Simple Patent Certificate from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (2022), and the 30-Year Satya Lencana from the President of Indonesia (2022).
