The Faculty of Engineering USU lecturers who received the assistance are:
- Dr. Eng. Ir. Riky Stepanus Situmorang, S.T., M.Eng., with the invention entitled “Biolubricant Based on Ester Derived from Palm Oil and Extract,” classified as a Simple Patent.
- Ir. Ilham Perkasa Bako, S.T., M.T., with the invention entitled “Biopot Formulation from Oil Palm Frond Waste (Elaeis guineensis) and Papaya Leaves (Carica papaya),” classified as a Patent.
- Ir. Risma Fazillah, S.T., M.T., with the invention entitled “Method for Producing Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) through Fermentation Using Baker's Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae),” classified as a Simple Patent.
- Ayuni Yustira, S.T., M.T., with the invention entitled “Method for Producing Durian Yogurt,” classified as a Simple Patent.
Support for the protection of these inventions is expected to strengthen a research culture that does not stop at the process of developing ideas but also considers the protection of innovation outcomes. Intellectual property protection can serve as an important stage before research outcomes are directed toward broader utilization.
This activity primarily supports SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through strengthening the protection of innovations and research outcomes. SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production is also relevant, particularly for inventions that utilize palm oil-based resources and waste. FT USU continues to encourage lecturers to develop, protect, and utilize inventions responsibly.
