Medan, July 31, 2026 — The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), held a meeting and discussion with the Chair and Executive Board of the USU Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (IKA FT USU) to strengthen collaboration between the faculty and its alumni.
The meeting focused on developing a range of collaborative programs between the faculty and alumni, including certification and training programs for students, public lectures, and professional preparation programs to help recent graduates transition into the workforce.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering USU; Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni; Ir. Alvi Syahriza, M.Eng., Chair of IKA FT USU; Achmad Tirmizi, S.T., Executive/Tactical Secretary of IKA FT USU; and Ir. Tuapril Harianja, S.T., Vice Secretary of IKA FT USU.
Alumni involvement in academic activities and competency development is considered essential to strengthening the connection between higher education and professional needs. Through their experience and professional networks, alumni can provide practical insights, expand access to competency development opportunities, and help students gain a better understanding of workplace dynamics.
The meeting also discussed preparations for the 2026 Dies Natalis of the Faculty of Engineering USU, which is scheduled to take place in November 2026. Support from IKA FT USU is expected to strengthen alumni participation and foster closer ties among the academic community, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders throughout the anniversary activities.
The Faculty of Engineering USU remains committed to expanding alumni engagement in education, career development, innovation, and professional networking.
