Medan – October 1, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering USU received representatives of PT Agincourt Resources for an exploratory meeting on potential cooperation. The meeting was attended by the Dean of FT USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T.; Head of the Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hamidah Harahap, M.Sc.; and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Halimatuddahliana, S.T., M.Sc., while PT Agincourt Resources was represented by Mr. Suroyo.
During the meeting, the company representative explained the application of mineral processing processes and technologies, environmental management, as well as mining operational practices that were considered relevant to the field of Chemical Engineering and several other fields within FT USU. The discussion served as a basis for identifying opportunities for academic activities that could be jointly developed.

The subsequent discussion focused on exploring research cooperation and internship opportunities for students. In addition, opportunities for access to and collection of academic data that could support the preparation of final projects and student research activities were also discussed.
The meeting was still at the initial exploratory stage. The scope of cooperation, potential research areas, mechanisms for student research, data requirements, and forms of joint educational activities still require further discussion between the Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering, FT USU, and PT Agincourt Resources.
This activity primarily supports SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening relationships between higher education institutions and industry. SDG 4 – Quality Education is also relevant through internship opportunities and contextual learning, while SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure is related to opportunities for developing research and understanding industrial technologies.
FT USU continues to encourage partnerships that can strengthen education, research, and student competency readiness.
