Medan – October 2, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering USU received a visit from representatives of PT Bumi Mulia Makmur. The meeting served as an initial consultation forum regarding the need for expertise in the field of chemistry to discuss regulations on crude palm oil (CPO) commodities in export activities.
The visit was received by the Dean of FT USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., together with the Manager of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Emma Patricia Bangun, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.
During the meeting, the company requested that FT USU recommend a chemistry expert who could provide an expert opinion or act as an expert witness regarding CPO regulatory issues in export activities.
This activity primarily supports SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals through connecting higher education institutions and industry in the utilization of academic expertise. SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure is also relevant because access to technical perspectives can support the strengthening of processes and compliance in the palm oil processing sector.
FT USU is committed to creating opportunities for competency-based collaboration while ensuring that every follow-up process is conducted professionally and accountably.
