Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering Science

The Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering Science at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is an advanced study program from the Master's Program in Industrial Engineering that offers advanced deepening in the field of industrial engineering. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students will develop a deep understanding of theory and practice in operations management, systems analysis, production engineering, and industrial business strategy.

In addition, the program emphasizes innovative and applicable research in addressing modern industrial challenges. Students are directed to conduct research that is of high quality and has a real impact in improving industrial efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. With a focus on developing sustainable and industry-oriented solutions, graduates of this program are expected to become leaders in their fields and make meaningful contributions in facing complex industrial challenges in the future.

History

2009

In 2009, the USU Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering was opened. A program director and secretary managed the master's and doctoral programs. The USU Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering was established in accordance with the Rector's Decree of Universitas Sumatera Utara Number 936/H5.1.r/SK/PRS/2009 dated April 25, 2011.

2011

The first intake of students for the 2011/2012 academic year was three people. All three students held Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering. Two students came from the business world and held important positions, while the third was a lecturer at a state university.

2012

Three lecturers from state and private universities were admitted to the program in the 2012/2013 academic year.

2017

With the growing number of students in the USU Master's and Doctoral Programs and the availability of good facilities in the Faculty of Engineering, lectures, and administration have been moved to the Faculty of Engineering building since 2017.

2021

Since October 1, 2021, the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Industrial Engineering have been led by Prof. Ir. Rosnani Ginting, M.T., Ph.D. as Chair and Dr. Ir. Anizar, M.Kes., IPU., Asean Eng. as Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering. Currently, the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Industrial Engineering are led by a Program Director, a Master's Program Secretary, and a Doctoral Program Secretary.

Himpunan Mahasiswa S2/S3 Teknik Industri

Students have a formal student association called the Student Association of Industrial Engineering Master and Doctoral Program (Himpunan Mahasiswa S2/S3 Teknik Industri), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, or abbreviated as HIMTI S2/S3 FT USU. Due to a vacancy, there is currently no official board of management. The formation of the board of management will be planned at the congress in April 2024.
