The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), conducted a coordination meeting in preparation for the Engineering Self-Accreditation Agency (LAM Teknik) accreditation visitation in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of FT USU. This event is part of strategic efforts to reinforce readiness ahead of the upcoming field assessments for the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering (S3), the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering (S1), and the Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering (S1).
The meeting was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., who emphasized the vital importance of synergy among faculty leadership, program administrators, faculty support units, and accreditation teams. In the context of accreditation, inter-unit collaboration plays a pivotal role in ensuring document completeness, supporting data readiness, and aligning shared understanding of the field assessment process.

Representing the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering, the meeting was attended by Ir. Gina Cynthia Raphita Hasibuan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., as Head of the Study Program, and Dr. M. Ridwan Anas, S.T., M.T., as Secretary of the Study Program, who jointly engaged in discussions regarding strategies, logistical needs, and preparation steps leading up to the visitation. Additionally, accreditation teams from each respective program actively participated in the proceedings.
Discussions centered on evaluating overall study program readiness, identifying areas requiring further refinement, and strengthening coordination between the faculty and program levels. The forum served as an alignment platform for all involved parties to ensure the visitation process is executed optimally and in accordance with established LAM Teknik standards.
For the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering, visitation preparation serves not only to fulfill accreditation criteria, but also acts as a momentum to reflect upon accumulated accomplishments across education, research, community service, and continuous program governance. Through this process, the program demonstrates its commitment to elevating academic quality and advancing doctoral education relevant to infrastructure development and civil engineering advancements.
The Faculty of Engineering USU remains steadfast in supporting higher education quality enhancement through strong quality assurance systems and sound governance. Accreditation is viewed as an integral component of a continuous evaluation framework that drives program performance, fosters a culture of quality, and elevates institutional competitiveness.
This initiative directly aligns with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by reinforcing higher education standards and academic quality assurance systems. Furthermore, it supports SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, particularly through strengthening institutional governance, inter-unit coordination, and readiness for external evaluations conducted in a transparent and accountable manner.
The event was attended by the Dean and Vice Deans of FT USU, Heads and Secretaries of the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering, Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering, and Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering, alongside respective LAM Teknik accreditation teams and managers within the Faculty of Engineering USU.
