Two students from the Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), Mhd Alim Munajad and Alpi Mukhsyn Simatupang, completed an internship at PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Jambi. The activity was held from July 22 to August 1, 2026, in Kenali Asam Atas, Kota Baru District, Jambi City.

During the internship, the students were assigned to the Reliability, Availability, and Maintenance (RAM) function in the Electrical and Instrumentation division. This function supports electrical and instrumentation requirements for drilling and oil production activities within the company’s operational area.

Based on the activity materials, the students studied the maintenance of oil pump drive motors, generators, and transformers. They also learned about parallel generator operation and electrical network mapping activities.

The activity supported SDG 4: Quality Education through contextual learning based on industrial experience. Exposure to the workplace and professional competencies was relevant to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, while learning about electrical systems and infrastructure was relevant to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.

FT USU continues to encourage internships that are aligned with study program competencies and industry needs. This experience is expected to strengthen Electrical Engineering students’ technical knowledge, discipline, analytical skills, and professional readiness.
