Engineering Public Services Faculty of Engineering USU in 2022 is a program whose implementation takes place in Langkat Regency, Sambirejo Village, North Sumatra. The implementation began in August 2022 and ended in September 2022. There are three main programs in FT USU community service, including:
Development of Shallow Groundwater Irrigation to Increase the Productivity of Sambirejo Village Farmers in Langkat Regency, chaired by Ir. Nismah Panjaitan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU
Appropriate Technology of Rice Thresher Machine to Increase Productivity and Work of Farmers in Sambirejo Village, Langkat Regency, chaired by Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM
Utilization of Chopping Tools in the Addition of Rice Straw and Corn Cobs as Complete Animal Feed in Sambirejo Village, Langkat Regency, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T.
On Tuesday (27/09/2022), socialization was held, as well as the handover of equipment, which took place in the Sambirejo Village office hall. The Dean of FT USU, the Head of study programs in FT USU, members of the community service group, and FT USU students also attended the event. In his remarks, the Dean of FT (Dr. Ir. Fahmi S.T., M.Sc., IPM) said that community service has an impact on Sambirejo Village and is beneficial to the community, especially farmer groups, "Community service can be done anywhere", community service is a good obligation of the institution and is a tri dharma of the university. Community service, if done in a place, will have an impact. Hopefully, this activity continues well and benefits Sambirejo village and farmer groups and becomes a value of worship for all of us".
Sambirejo Village has superior agricultural potential, including rice and secondary crops. Three farmer groups actively participate in developing the agricultural potential of Sambirejo Village, including Tani Abadi, Karya Tani, and Suka Tani. Jefri Wahyuni, the Head of Sambirejo Village, was honored and welcomed the community service program by FT USU, "It is an honour for us Sambirejo Village as a fostered village. And not only the title but an example of a fostered village in Binjai carrying the big name of FT USU. The village's relationship with FT USU is going well. Sambirejo village also plans to make coaching and machine training for children and village youths who drop out of school so that they have positive activities and are kept from drug use ".
