Excursion Study is an experiential learning activity that provides opportunities for students to observe and understand firsthand the application of Industrial Engineering in a corporate environment. Through the visit to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia – Medan Plant, students gained insights into the characteristics of the manufacturing industry as well as a general overview of the execution of production processes and the company's operational system. This activity serves as a medium to enrich academic understanding through direct observation of industrial practices.

During the activity, students had the opportunity to observe the industrial environment and activities so that they could connect theoretical concepts obtained during lectures with their implementation in the working world. This experience is expected to broaden students' understanding of manufacturing processes, work systems, operational management, quality control, and the importance of efficiency and productivity in supporting company performance. Furthermore, this activity provides a perspective on the competencies required to face the challenges and dynamics of modern industry.
The execution of learning outside the campus environment also provides a contextual experience that can support the formal learning process and student competency development.
In addition to broadening technical insight, Excursion Study can serve as a medium to develop observation capabilities, analytical thinking, and identifying the relationship between theory and real problems in the industrial environment. Through this experience, students are expected to build a more comprehensive understanding of the role of an Industrial Engineering graduate in integrating human, machine, material, method, information, and energy aspects to improve the effectiveness of industrial systems.
Organizing Excursion Study 2026 is one form of implementing the work program of the Insight Development Division of HIMTI FT USU in supporting the learning process and student capacity development. This activity is expected to increase student readiness in facing the professional world, foster interest in industrial practice, and strengthen the link between higher education and the needs of the working world. Thus, Excursion Study 2026 is not only a company visit venue, but also part of the effort to form Industrial Engineering students who are competent, adaptive, analytical, and able to contribute to sustainable industrial performance improvement.
