In line with this commitment, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), organized a gathering titled “Uniting Spirit and Energy for a Stronger Faculty of Engineering” on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, at the FT USU Hall. The event also served as a farewell and welcome ceremony for the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, marking the transition from the 2021–2026 leadership team to the newly appointed leaders for the 2026–2031 term.

The event was attended by the leadership of Universitas Sumatera Utara, the Faculty of Engineering executive board, professors, special advisors, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, lecturers, and administrative staff. The participation of members from across the academic community reflected a shared commitment to fostering collaborative, adaptive, and quality-oriented faculty governance.

In her remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for the 2026–2031 term, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., expressed her appreciation to the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs for the 2021–2026 period for their dedication and valuable contributions throughout their tenure. She also expressed confidence that the newly appointed leadership would build upon the faculty’s achievements while further strengthening the implementation of the three pillars of higher education (tridharma), academic governance, and the global competitiveness of the Faculty of Engineering.

The program featured speeches from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for the 2021–2026 term, representatives of the outgoing Heads of Study Programs, and representatives of the incoming Heads of Study Programs for the 2026–2031 period. Through reflections on past experiences and aspirations for the future, the gathering provided an opportunity to reinforce solidarity and a shared commitment to advancing the faculty.

The event concluded with a collective prayer, a group photo session, and a fellowship gathering that further strengthened the sense of community within the Faculty of Engineering. More than a ceremonial occasion, the event reflected FT USU’s commitment to cultivating an inclusive organizational culture, enhancing collaboration across academic units, and ensuring a smooth and harmonious leadership transition.

This initiative supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by strengthening institutional governance, organizational culture, and institutional effectiveness. It also contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting educational excellence, collaboration, and effective communication across the academic community. The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to fostering collaborative and adaptive academic leadership that advances institutional excellence and sustainable development.
