Medan - September 21, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering USU held a morning assembly. Ir. Andianto Pintoro, S.T., M.T., as the assembly leader, delivered remarks on preventing student fights and the importance of building students' awareness to avoid involvement in physical altercations.
In his remarks, the assembly leader encouraged lecturers and education personnel to once again provide students with an understanding of the importance of avoiding acts of violence. Support from the academic environment is considered important in helping students understand the consequences of disputes and choose more constructive ways to resolve them.
When problems or differences of opinion arise, students are encouraged to discuss them properly through communication and discussion. This approach is necessary to reduce misunderstandings that could trigger emotions, escalate disputes, and lead to conflict.
The message delivered during the morning assembly placed prevention as a shared responsibility. Lecturers, education personnel, and students all have a role in building a campus culture that prioritizes dialogue, mutual respect, and non-violent problem-solving.
This activity primarily supports SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions through strengthening a culture of peace, violence prevention, and dialogue-based conflict resolution. SDG 4 – Quality Education is also relevant through the strengthening of character education and student support.
