The Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara held an FGD to evaluate its vision, mission, learning outcomes, and independent professional profiles. This initiative aims to enhance curriculum quality and international accreditation, ensuring graduates are globally competitive.

Medan, USU – The Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara held a significant event to enhance the quality of education and global competitiveness. Titled "Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Evaluating Vision, Mission, Learning Outcomes (CPL), and Independent Professional Profiles (PPM)," this event served as a crucial milestone in curriculum monitoring and evaluation aimed at international accreditation. The FGD took place on November 19, 2024, at the Smart Classroom of the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

 

The FGD was officially opened by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara, Ir. Aulia Ishak, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the FGD was a strategic step to ensure the curriculum remains relevant to industrial developments and meets international standards. "Evaluating the vision, mission, learning outcomes (CPL), and independent professional profiles (PPM) is a fundamental aspect of building an outstanding and globally competitive study program," he stated. He also highlighted the program’s commitment to continuous improvement and quality enhancement in education to produce competent graduates ready to face global challenges.

 

 

The first session featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Hari Purnomo, M.T., IPU., ASEAN.Eng. from Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) as the keynote speaker. This session was highly interactive, with discussions and Q&A sessions engaging participants in evaluating the vision, mission, CPL, and PPM of the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering. Prof. Hari Purnomo emphasized the importance of a clear and measurable vision and mission, as well as CPL that aligns with current and future industry demands.

 

The second session continued with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Amalia Suzianti, S.T., M.Sc. from Universitas Indonesia (UI). She delivered in-depth material on curriculum monitoring and evaluation to support international accreditation. Prof. Amalia Suzianti shared best practices and strategies for implementing an internationally standardized curriculum and stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and evaluation. The session also featured enthusiastic discussions and Q&A sessions from participants.

 

 

The FGD was expected to provide valuable insights and constructive recommendations for refining the curriculum of the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The outcomes of the FGD will serve as a crucial foundation for a comprehensive curriculum monitoring and evaluation process, ultimately aiming for international accreditation. With an internationally accredited curriculum, the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains optimistic about producing graduates who are not only competent at the national level but also capable of competing on a global scale.
