The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), continues to promote learning that connects academic knowledge with professional experience. One of these efforts is carried out through the implementation of field internships for students of the Undergraduate Program in Civil Engineering at CV Rancang Bangun Consultant.
The activity was attended by five students: Win Megah Kenara, Faridsyah Luthfi Siregar, Rehan Dimas, Louis Kennedy Simangunsong, and M. Arief Rahman Parinduri. The field internship was conducted from January 29 to March 30, 2026.
CV Rancang Bangun Consultant is located on Jalan D.C. Barito, Medan Polonia District, Medan. The students’ involvement in the company provided them with an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the professional work environment in the field of civil engineering.
The field internship is part of the educational process that complements classroom learning. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to observe professional practices, adapt to an organizational environment, and develop their readiness to enter the professional field.
The activity supports SDG 4: Quality Education through experiential learning that connects academic processes with the workplace. Its contribution to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth is reflected in strengthening students’ readiness for their professional careers.
FT USU remains committed to facilitating field-based learning activities that are relevant to the needs of engineering education. The implementation of field internships is expected to provide students with valuable experience to continuously develop their competencies, sense of responsibility, and professional attitudes.
