Medan, May 27, 2025 — The Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held thesis defense sessions for four students enrolled in the Fast Track Bachelor-Master Program. The sessions were conducted in two parts: the first on May 23, 2025 for Alkent Chenio and Amelia Hafsah Hutagalung, and the second on May 26, 2025 for Akbar Gading Alfadli Harahap and Van Hubert.
Each student presented scientific research focused on design development and industrial process improvement, with the following titles:
Alkent Chenio: Integration of Axiomatic Design (AD) and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) in Product Design Development.


Amelia Hafsah Hutagalung: Implementation of Lean Manufacturing in HSB Yatim MSME Using the Integrated Approach of QFD and Fuzzy COPRAS


Akbar Gading Alfadli Harahap: Integration Model of Design for Assembly and Design for Serviceability in the Design of a Grass Chopping Machine


Van Hubert: Improved Prosthetic Hand Design Using TRIZ and Additive Manufacturing Integration


The students were supervised by Prof. Ir. Rosnani Ginting, M.T., Ph.D., IPU and Ir. Aulia Ishak, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU.
The Fast Track Bachelor-Master Program is a strategic initiative by the Faculty of Engineering at USU to accelerate quality higher education and produce graduates who are capable of contributing meaningfully to national industrial development and appropriate technology innovation.
