Renata Simanjuntak (240402094), an undergraduate student in the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), completed an independent industrial internship at PT PLN (Persero) ULP Kisaran, UP3 Pematang Siantar, North Sumatra UID, from July 20 to August 18, 2026.

During the internship, Renata participated in the observation of electricity distribution systems while assisting with operational activities and distribution network maintenance. These experiences provided valuable insight into workflow processes, technical responsibilities, and day-to-day operations within Indonesia's national electricity provider.

The internship offered an opportunity to enrich practical learning, foster workplace discipline, and deepen the student's understanding of the professional competencies required in the power and energy sector.

This internship most directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing experience-based learning beyond the classroom. By strengthening the connection between higher education and industry, the program also contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), particularly by enhancing students' readiness to enter the professional workforce.

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to promoting learning experiences that are aligned with industry needs through academic programs and structured industrial exposure, while preparing students to contribute responsibly and effectively upon completing their education.
