Medan, July 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), held a Curriculum Revision Meeting for its Master's and Doctoral Programs. The meeting served as an academic forum to discuss the direction and refinement of graduate curricula within the faculty.

The agenda covered the overall curriculum revision, the Regular Track Master's and Doctoral Programs, and the Research Track Master's and Doctoral Programs. Discussions also focused on preparations for implementing the revised curricula in the 2026/2027 Academic Year as part of the faculty's efforts to strengthen graduate education while enhancing the attractiveness and enrollment of its master's and doctoral programs.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni, along with the heads and secretaries of the master's and doctoral programs representing six academic disciplines: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Architecture. The participation of program leaders from various disciplines facilitated cross-program coordination in formulating graduate curricula that are relevant, adaptive, and aligned with academic standards and applicable regulations.

The meeting marked an important stage in gathering academic input and considerations for refining the curricula of the master's and doctoral programs. The discussions are expected to provide the foundation for designing learning structures that are more focused and responsive to the advancement of knowledge through both the regular and research tracks. However, the final curriculum and its implementation remain subject to further discussion and approval in accordance with established academic procedures.

Beyond enhancing academic quality, the curriculum revision is also expected to strengthen the competitiveness and appeal of FT USU's graduate programs. Relevant, flexible, and research-oriented curricula are anticipated to provide added value for prospective students, expand opportunities for research collaboration, and support sustainable growth in master's and doctoral student enrollment.

This initiative contributes directly to SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing the quality and relevance of graduate education. Strengthening the research track also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the development of research-based education that fosters innovation capacity and generates scholarly contributions relevant to technological advancement and sustainable development.

Through this academic forum, FT USU reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the governance of high-quality, collaborative, and forward-looking graduate education that responds to the evolving landscape of knowledge and societal needs. The curriculum revision is expected not only to improve the quality of learning and students' research capacity but also to reinforce the position of FT USU's master's and doctoral programs as outstanding and competitive choices for advanced study.
