Medan, August 19, 2026 — The Professional Engineer Education Program (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), held the Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony for the 16th Cohort, Semester B of the 2025/2026 Academic Year.

The event was attended by the Dean of FT USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng.; Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T.; Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; USU Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T.; USU Vice Rector for Planning, Infrastructure, and Business, Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., M.M.IT.; Head of the PSPPI Study Program, Ir. Nismah Panjaitan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng.; Chair of the North Sumatra Regional Board of the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII), Dr. Ir. Ahmad Perwira Mulia, M.Sc.; and Secretary of PII North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPU.

The presence of representatives from the university, faculty, study program, and professional organization demonstrated institutional involvement in the implementation of professional engineering education.

The ceremony also featured the Engineer’s Oath administered by the Chair of PII North Sumatra, followed by the signing of the oath. The procession served as an important moment to reaffirm the graduates’ commitment to professional responsibility and ethical conduct in engineering practice.

The activity primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education through the provision of professional education and institutional recognition of the participants being inaugurated. It also contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, as professional engineering education develops the capacity of engineering professionals who can contribute to the advancement of industry, innovation, and infrastructure.

Through PSPPI, FT USU remains committed to strengthening professional engineering education based on competence, ethics, safety, and meaningful contributions to development. The inauguration is expected to serve as a milestone for graduates to apply the knowledge and experience gained throughout their education in professional, ethical, and socially beneficial engineering practice.
