Medan, July 10, 2026 – The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS/K3) Team of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), conducted inspections of portable fire extinguishers (APAR) at various locations throughout the faculty. The activity also included the installation of identification labels on each inspected unit.

The inspections were carried out to ensure that all fire extinguishers were properly located, easily accessible, and in a ready-to-use condition. The initiative forms part of the faculty's ongoing efforts to monitor safety equipment so that any damage, improper placement, or maintenance requirements can be identified and addressed promptly.
The installation of identification labels is intended to facilitate the inventory management and monitoring of each fire extinguisher. Clearly labeled equipment enables the OHS Team to conduct routine inspections more efficiently, document the condition of each unit, and plan follow-up actions whenever maintenance or replacement is required.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Engineering, USU, continues to strengthen its fire prevention measures while enhancing emergency preparedness across the faculty. Regular inspections of safety facilities are also expected to raise awareness among members of the academic community about the importance of maintaining occupational health and safety (OHS) equipment and understanding the appropriate initial response during emergency situations.

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to continuously improving occupational health and safety practices through regular facility inspections, safety education, and the enhancement of emergency preparedness systems. These efforts form part of the faculty's commitment to fostering a safe, orderly, and sustainable educational environment.
