As part of the second day of the 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at FT USU, held on August 13, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), conducted Session V with the theme “Impactful Campus and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
Class A, held at the FT USU Hall, featured Dr. Eng. Ir. Taufiq Bin Nur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc.; Class B at Room J09.102 featured Ir. Ferry Rahmat Astianta Bukit, S.T., M.T., IPM.; Class C at Room J09.103 featured Ar. Agus Jhonson Hamonangan Sitorus, S.T., M.T., IAI; and Class D at Room J09.110 featured Dr. Ir. Rahmi Meilina Sari, S.T., MM(T).

Meanwhile, Class E at Room J09.111 featured Fitri Rowiyah Rambe, M.T.; Class F at the IKATSI Civil Engineering facility featured Ir. Ivan Indrawan, S.T., M.T.; while Class G at the Civil Engineering Smart Classroom featured Muhammad Gahara, S.T., M.T., P.Ars.
The session introduced new students to the idea that academic activities can be directed toward making relevant contributions to society and sustainable development. The introduction to the SDGs also provided students with an initial framework for understanding how social, economic, environmental, and institutional issues are interconnected with academic disciplines and higher education activities.

The activity primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education by broadening students’ understanding of the role of higher education in sustainable development. FT USU remains committed to encouraging students to develop knowledge, awareness, and academic capacity that can be directed toward meaningful contributions to society and the achievement of sustainable development.
