Medan, July 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU) conducted a Progress Review of the Faculty's Knowledge-Based Economy (KBE) Framework. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., Dean of FT USU, together with Dr. Eng. Ir. Taufiq Bin Nur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Halimatuddahliana, S.T., M.Sc.; Dr. Ir. Bambang Trisakti, M.Si.; Ir. Suprianto, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Ir. Tania Alda, S.T., M.T.; Ilham Perkasa Bako, S.T., M.T.; and Muhammad Safril, S.T., M.T.

The review focused on evaluating the progress of the Faculty's KBE framework. Through this internal forum, participants assessed the ongoing development process and ensured continuity in discussions before the framework advances to its next stage.

The evaluation is expected to support FT USU in developing a more structured Knowledge-Based Economy framework as part of its efforts to strengthen knowledge-driven institutional development. However, since the available documentation does not yet include details regarding the framework's achievements, meeting decisions, or agreed follow-up actions, these anticipated benefits remain prospective and require further verification.

This initiative primarily supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by reinforcing institutional governance through structured internal planning and evaluation. It also contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, as the KBE framework has the potential to strengthen the Faculty's knowledge and innovation ecosystem.

Through this progress review, FT USU reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening systematic, knowledge-based institutional planning that supports sustainable development. The Faculty will continue to promote responsible evaluation and continuous program development in accordance with its institutional priorities.
