Medan, May 26, 2026 – To strengthen this learning process, the Undergraduate Civil Engineering Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), organized the Steel Structure II Project-Based Learning (PjBL) Exhibition at the Faculty of Engineering Hall. The exhibition formed part of the implementation of project-based learning in the Steel Structure II course.

The exhibition featured projects from students in Classes B, C, and D, who presented their design work through posters and prototype models of steel portal structures. The exhibited projects also included detailed steel beam-to-column connection designs, demonstrating the practical application of concepts taught in the Steel Structure II course.

In addition to showcasing their work, the exhibition encouraged student participation through a voting process for the Best Poster, Best Prototype, and Favorite Booth awards. Further assessment was conducted by lecturers using online evaluation forms as part of the Project-Based Learning assessment for each class.

Through this exhibition, students were allowed to present, observe, and evaluate engineering projects within an interactive learning environment. The activity strengthened student engagement in the evaluation process while encouraging the presentation of engineering designs more systematically and effectively.

The exhibition primarily supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting project-based learning and strengthening students' professional competencies. It also contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, as students develop structural designs and prototypes related to building structural systems and infrastructure.

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to advancing learning approaches that are practical, collaborative, and competency-oriented. Through initiatives such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL), FT USU encourages students to integrate engineering knowledge with design processes that are relevant to the advancement of education, engineering practice, and sustainable development.
