Medan, June 15, 2026 – To strengthen this preparedness, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU) organized an orientation meeting on the 2026 Pioneer Research Grant Scheme and Pioneer Community Service Grant Scheme. The event was specifically designed for early-career lecturers at FT USU as the primary beneficiaries of both programs.
The meeting was attended by Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization; the Head of the Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and International Affairs Subdivision; and early-career lecturers from across the Faculty of Engineering. The presence of faculty leaders and program administrators provided participants with the opportunity to receive comprehensive explanations regarding the implementation of the grant schemes.
The session covered the program objectives, applicant eligibility requirements, registration procedures, selection stages, proposal preparation guidelines, and implementation timeline. Participants also received detailed information regarding the scope of eligible activities, expected outputs, and administrative requirements that must be fulfilled throughout the proposal submission process.
Through this meeting, early-career lecturers gained a solid foundation for preparing research and community service proposals in a more structured and strategic manner. The program is expected to enhance the quality of submitted proposals, while the eventual research outcomes, innovations, and community impact will depend on the subsequent selection process and project implementation.
This initiative primarily supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by strengthening research capacity and fostering innovation within higher education institutions. It also contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing the professional competencies of lecturers in carrying out the three pillars of higher education—education, research, and community service.
