The Head of USU's Civil Engineering Department attended the 13th National Civil Engineering Conference and the 12th National Congress of BMPTTSSI 2019 in Banda Aceh. The event focused on infrastructure innovations based on disaster mitigation and environmental awareness.

The Head of the Civil Engineering Department at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Medis Sejahtera Surbakti, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., attended the 13th National Civil Engineering Conference (KonTekS 13) and the 12th National Congress of the Civil Engineering Higher Education Forum of Indonesia (BMPTTSSI). The event took place from September 19–21, 2019, at the Hermes Palace Hotel, Banda Aceh, under the theme “Scientific and Technological Innovation in the Implementation of Disaster Mitigation-Based and Environmentally Oriented Infrastructure.” The conference brought together civil engineering experts and academics from across the country.

 

 

In addition to academic discussions, the event served as a strategic forum for BMPTTSSI to outline national policy directions for the advancement of civil engineering education. During the congress, Dr. Muhammad Abduh from ITB was elected Secretary General of BMPTTSSI for the 2019–2023 term. The active participation of USU's Civil Engineering Department in this national forum reflects the institution's commitment to fostering academic collaboration and promoting innovative engineering education that addresses environmental and disaster challenges.
