Medan – October 21, 2026, the Islamic Students Association (HMI) of the Faculty of Engineering, USU Commissariat, conducted an Industrial Exploration activity at the water treatment facility of PDAM Tirtanadi, North Sumatra. The activity aimed to broaden students’ knowledge of clean water treatment and supply.

Through this visit, participants had the opportunity to become familiar with the industrial environment that supports clean water services for the community. The context of the activity allowed students to connect engineering studies with facility management and public service responsibilities.

The activity also introduced the importance of safety when entering industrial operational areas. The use of safety equipment, as seen in the documentation, indicates that participants followed basic requirements during the field visit.

The Industrial Exploration activity primarily supports SDG 4 – Quality Education through experiential learning outside the classroom. SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation is also relevant because the learning subject relates to clean water treatment and supply facilities, without claiming that the activity directly resulted in improved services.
