The Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has received ‘Accredited’ status. This international accreditation was granted by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE).
This achievement is recognized in the discipline of Mechanical and Similarly-named Engineering Programs, as stated in Accreditation Certificate No. 000180.A, issued on March 31, 2024, in Jakarta, and signed by the Chair of the IABEE Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Romli, M.Sc.St., IPU.
IABEE is one of Indonesia's independent accreditation bodies acknowledged by the government under Kepmendikbud No. 83/P/2020. Currently, IABEE holds ‘Provisional Signatory’ status in the Washington Accord (WA) and operates as an independent organization under PII, aimed at advancing higher education management in engineering and computing fields.
With IABEE accreditation, the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at USU aspires to equip students with the skills necessary to excel in the professional world at an international level. This achievement is also expected to inspire other programs within the Faculty of Engineering at USU to enhance their standards toward international recognition.
