The Industrial Engineering Retreat 2026 featured Ega Abraham Pangaribuan, S.T., M.Th., an alumnus of the 2013 cohort of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at USU, as the speaker. The presence of a speaker with an academic background and experience in spiritual ministry was an important part of the participants' spiritual development program. Through the presentation of materials and reflections, participants were invited to understand the importance of building a strong foundation of faith, maintaining a personal relationship with God, and implementing Christian values in their daily lives.
With the theme “Rooted in Christ: Growing in Faith,” this retreat was designed as a space for reflection and spiritual renewal for Christian Industrial Engineering students at USU. The theme emphasizes the importance of making Christ the primary foundation of one's life of faith while encouraging continuous spiritual growth. Participants were invited to evaluate their individual journeys of faith, deepen their understanding of Christian values, and build a commitment to living in accordance with the teachings of Christ.

Holding the activity outside the campus environment provided participants with an opportunity to take a break from their academic routines and organizational activities. The more conducive retreat atmosphere was expected to help participants focus on self-reflection, spiritual deepening, and strengthening their relationship with God. Through this experience, participants were expected to gain new perspectives on understanding their lives of faith and facing various academic and social challenges.
Over the two days and one night, participants took part in a series of activities, including the delivery of God's Word, worship sessions, fellowship, and community activities. Each activity was designed to support spiritual development while providing participants with opportunities to build shared experiences of faith. The delivery of God's Word served as a means of deepening their understanding of Christian teachings, while worship and fellowship activities provided opportunities to strengthen spiritual relationships and foster a sense of togetherness within the community.
In addition to the series of spiritual activities, the Industrial Engineering Retreat 2026 also included various games and group activities presented interactively. These activities were intended not only to create an enjoyable atmosphere but also to serve as a means of developing communication skills, teamwork, and social interaction among participants. Through their involvement in group activities, students had opportunities to get to know one another, understand each other's personalities, and build closer interpersonal relationships.
Togetherness was one of the key elements of this activity. Students interacted not only in the context of friendship but also developed a sense of mutual support as part of the Christian Industrial Engineering student community at USU. The relationships formed through shared activities were expected to strengthen solidarity, foster compassion, and create a positive fellowship environment. Thus, the retreat served as a means of spiritual development as well as strengthening social relationships within the student community.
Furthermore, this activity emphasized that the growth of faith needs to be demonstrated through concrete attitudes and behaviors in daily life. Values such as love, honesty, humility, patience, responsibility, and concern for others are important elements in student character development. In the context of academic life, these values can be reflected in integrity throughout the learning process, mutual respect, responsibility for assignments, and a willingness to contribute to the surrounding community.
Through the materials presented by the speaker and the various activities conducted, participants were also encouraged to understand that a life of faith is a continuous process of growth. This growth requires reflection, commitment, and consistency in applying Christian values. Therefore, the experience gained during the retreat was expected not to remain merely a temporary spiritual experience but to become a foundation for developing positive habits and strengthening the quality of spiritual life after the activity ended.
In the context of comprehensive student development, the Industrial Engineering Retreat 2026 represents a form of development program that integrates spiritual, personal, and social aspects. Developing these aspects is important in supporting the formation of students who possess not only academic competencies but also mature character, moral awareness, and concern for others. Through this activity, students were expected to establish a balance between academic responsibilities, spiritual life, and community involvement.
The organization of this activity also reflects the commitment of the Spiritual Affairs Division of HIMTI FT USU to facilitating the spiritual development of Christian students through structured and participatory activities. Programs such as retreats are expected to strengthen the role of student organizations as platforms for self-development, character building, and the creation of mutually supportive communities.
Through the Industrial Engineering Retreat 2026, participants were expected to gain strengthened faith, a deeper spiritual understanding, and meaningful experiences of togetherness. The values acquired during the activity were expected to be consistently applied in academic life, organizational activities, interpersonal relationships, and social interactions within society.
In line with the theme “Rooted in Christ: Growing in Faith,” this activity was expected to serve as a meaningful moment for Christian Industrial Engineering students at USU to become more deeply rooted in Christ, grow in faith, and put Christian values into practice through concrete actions. Thus, the Industrial Engineering Retreat 2026 served not only as a platform for spiritual development but also as part of the effort to shape students with steadfast faith, good character, and a commitment to making positive contributions to the academic community and wider society.
