Medan, August 21, 2026 — To welcome new students and introduce them to the academic environment and student life of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the Industrial Engineering Student Association (HIMTI) FT USU organized Industrial Engineering Spirit & Exploration (INSPIRE) USU 2026 under the theme “Stronger Together, Greater Forever.” The activity took place over two days, August 21–22, 2026, at the Industrial Engineering Multipurpose Room of USU and the Engineering Hall.

INSPIRE is an introductory activity for new students that aims to provide an understanding of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at USU, the university learning environment, student organizations, laboratories, and various platforms for self-development and achievement that students can participate in throughout their studies. Through this activity, new students are expected to become more familiar with the academic environment while building their readiness to navigate university life.

On the first day, the activity began with an opening ceremony and remarks from several relevant parties, including the Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at USU and the Chairperson of POMA (Industrial Engineering Parents Association) USU. The program continued with a video presentation introducing the laboratories, followed by an overview of Industrial Engineering at USU.

The first day's sessions covered an introduction to the Industrial Engineering Study Program at USU, HIMTI as a student organization, and the various achievements attained by Industrial Engineering students. New students were also introduced to various Student Activity Units (UKM) as platforms for developing their interests, talents, and potential. To create an interactive atmosphere and strengthen togetherness, the program also featured various games involving the new students.

On the second day, the activity continued with Laboratory Introduction, during which new students visited the laboratories within the Industrial Engineering department at USU. During this session, students gained firsthand insights into the facilities, functions, and activities of the laboratories through explanations provided by laboratory assistants. This activity is expected to improve students' understanding of the role of laboratories in supporting the learning process and competency development in the field of Industrial Engineering.

Following the laboratory introduction session, the new students performed group chants as an expression of creativity, enthusiasm, and teamwork. The program continued with self-development sessions, which included an introduction to HATI (Industrial Engineering Alumni Association) and sharing tips on achieving success throughout university studies. The atmosphere became even livelier with the second session of games, the announcement of nominations, and a group documentation session before the event concluded with the closing ceremony.

Through the theme “Stronger Together, Greater Forever,” INSPIRE USU 2026 served as a platform for new students to become more familiar with the Industrial Engineering environment at USU, build relationships, and foster a sense of togetherness as part of the Industrial Engineering family. The entire series of activities is expected to help new students adapt to university life, take advantage of various self-development opportunities, and cultivate the enthusiasm to learn, achieve, and grow together.

With the successful implementation of INSPIRE USU 2026, new students are expected not only to gain an initial understanding of academic and student life but also to develop a spirit of collaboration, solidarity, and commitment to making positive contributions to the Industrial Engineering Study Program at USU.
