The Industrial Engineering Student Association of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (HIMTI FT USU), held Industrial Engineering Spirit and Exploration (INSPIRE) 2026 on August 21–22, 2026. The activity was intended for the 2026 cohort of new Industrial Engineering students.
Carrying the theme “Stronger Together, Greater Forever,” INSPIRE 2026 served as a welcoming event as well as an introduction to university life and the Industrial Engineering environment at USU. The series of activities was designed to foster a sense of togetherness, confidence, responsibility, and care among new students.
Participants were also introduced to various student activity units and laboratories within the Industrial Engineering environment. The introduction provided an overview of opportunities for students to develop their interests, talents, skills, and experiences beyond classroom activities.
INSPIRE 2026 also featured Industrial Engineering alumni who shared their experiences, from their university journey to entering the workforce. One of the alumni in attendance was Nugroho Achmad, S.T., known as Abangda Lolox, an alumnus of the 2007 cohort of Industrial Engineering, USU.
The activity primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening academic adaptation and character development among new students. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth is also relevant through the introduction to alumni experiences and their transition into the workforce. FT USU is committed to supporting student programs that help new students grow within a collaborative and supportive academic environment.
