Muhammad Haykal, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), with Student Identification Number (NIM) 220401014, won Second Place in the mixed doubles badminton event at the 25th IMT–GT Varsity Carnival 2026. The achievement was recorded on August 26, 2026.

The competition was held at the sports facilities of Universitas Negeri Padang. The tournament was attended by student delegations from 11 higher education institutions from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Participation in an inter-university competition provided students with an opportunity to test their abilities in a broader competitive environment. In the mixed doubles event, coordination and communication between players were essential elements in facing the matches.

This achievement primarily supports SDG 4: Quality Education through the comprehensive development of student competencies. SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being is also relevant through participation in sports activities. FT USU encourages students to balance academic achievements with the development of their potential, sportsmanship, and accomplishments at the inter-university level.
