On 21 July 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed an academic delegation from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) at the Faculty's Meeting Room, Second Floor.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni of the Faculty of Engineering USU; Zaid Perdana Nasution, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization; and representatives from UTHM, Dr. Siti Marpuah and Dr. Abdul Hamid. Also in attendance were the Heads of the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Urban and Regional Planning.
The visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties, discuss opportunities for academic cooperation, explore potential collaborative initiatives, and promote UTHM's postgraduate programs. The participation of the Heads of USU's postgraduate study programs also provided a platform for exchanging information, identifying shared areas of expertise, and exploring opportunities for future academic development.

This initiative most directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening international academic networks and exploring institutional collaboration. Prospective cooperation in postgraduate education and academic mobility also contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, while opportunities for joint research and scholarly publications have the potential to advance SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, remains committed to expanding international partnerships that enhance education, research, and academic capacity. Future collaborations will continue to be developed through measurable, mutually beneficial programs that strengthen the University's contribution to sustainable development.
