The Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is a study program that explores the application of physical principles for the analysis, design, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical systems. This study program aims to train students in developing professional attitudes and skills in the field of Mechanical Engineering, in order to be able to adapt and follow the development of new science and technology. Students will study energy conversion focused on machines such as combustion motors, thermal systems, and fluid machines.

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Welcome to the offical website of the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at USU.

The Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering has the goal of producing graduates and experts in the field of mechanical engineering who are recognized nationally and internationally, can develop science, and provide solutions to problems that exist in industry and society.

The Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering in 2022-2026 has a vision "To become an internationally competitive Mechanical Engineering Study Program that has academic excellence characterized by local wealth". In realizing the vision and mission, the USU Faculty of Engineering Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering is supported by permanent lecturers with master's and doctoral degrees, 11 laboratories, and 5 research centers. The KKNI-based curriculum oriented towards graduate-based education is the foundation of design developed continuously to anticipate and adapt to technological advances. Continuous adaptation of learning patterns and processes is implemented so that students can explore knowledge, proficiency, and skills from various sources and media that develop and become aspects that support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program as well as collaboration and synergy with the USU Faculty of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Alumni Association (IKATM) and collaborations with partners become strengths in development.

In the USU Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, there are several concentrations, including Energy Conversion, Machine Construction, Materials, Formation Production Engineering & Manufacturing Engineering, and Maintenance Engineering. The Energy Conversion specialization discusses energy machines and renewable energy based on the potential of natural resources. The Machine Construction specialization is engaged in the design of machines. Materials specialization is engaged in material manufacturing processes and advanced material development. The Manufacturing specialization involves conventional and unconventional process technology, including Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing. In comparison, the Maintenance Engineering specialization develops maintenance automation technology to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Through this website, the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering will present and display complete and regularly updated information. The information related to human resources, curriculum, educational & research facilities, study program activities, student affairs, alumni, and cooperation with third parties must be conveyed to all stakeholders. It is hoped that through this website, information for the entire academic community and stakeholders on the academic and non-academic activities of the USU Faculty of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program can be provided.
