The Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, announced the submission of a dissertation proposal focusing on adolescent mental health from the perspective of the residential neighborhood environment.
This research focuses on identifying neighborhood environmental factors that support adolescent mental health, understanding why these environmental factors influence adolescents’ mental conditions, and developing a model of the relationship mechanism between the environment and mental health based on adolescents’ own perspectives.
The study integrates the fields of environmental psychology, behavioral architecture, urban planning, and public health to contribute to the development of residential environments that are more supportive of the mental well-being of younger generations, particularly in urban areas.
Through this research, it is expected that recommendations and environmental planning models can be developed to become more responsive to adolescents’ needs while supporting socially and psychologically sustainable and healthy urban development.
