This dissertation examines the passive fire protection systems in traditional Batak Toba settlements in Pangururan District, Samosir Regency. The study aims to evaluate the reliability of existing passive fire protection systems and formulate optimization recommendations to support the preservation of cultural heritage areas and the safety of heritage tourism destinations.

The Doctoral Program in Architecture and Urban Science, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has conducted a dissertation research project by N. Vinky Rahman entitled “Study of Passive Fire Protection Systems in Traditional Settlements (Case Study: Traditional Batak Toba Settlements in Pangururan District, Samosir Regency).” The research examines the reliability of passive fire protection systems in traditional Batak Toba settlement areas as an effort to protect cultural heritage sites and strengthen the safety of heritage tourism areas.

The findings indicate the need for optimization in spatial planning and building materials to improve the reliability of fire protection systems within traditional Batak Toba settlements.
