A Doctoral Architecture student has submitted a dissertation proposal focusing on sustainable conservation approaches for preserving traditional East Sumatran Malay houses in urban areas. This research aligns with the research roadmap of Prof. Ar. Beny Octofryana Yousca Marpaung, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IAI., IPM., particularly in the fields of traditional architectural conservation and the sustainability of local cultural heritage.

The Doctoral Program in Architecture announces the submission of a dissertation proposal by student Melly Andriana entitled “Sustainable Conservation Approaches for the Preservation of Traditional East Sumatran Malay Houses in Urban Areas.”

This research examines efforts to preserve traditional Malay houses through a sustainable conservation approach that integrates social, economic, environmental, and technological aspects, as well as community participation in addressing the challenges posed by modernization and urbanization.

The study also employs a multidisciplinary approach supported by digital technologies as part of innovative strategies for cultural and traditional architectural conservation.

Through this research, it is expected that adaptive and sustainable preservation strategies can be developed to safeguard traditional buildings while maintaining their local cultural values within urban environments.
