This dissertation research discusses a transportation control model for the Central Market area of Medan City as an effort to address traffic congestion, high traffic density, illegal parking, and transportation conflicts in one of Medan’s main commercial districts. The study employs a transportation simulation approach using Vissim software to develop a more effective and sustainable transportation control model.
The Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, conducted a dissertation research project by Sariguna Herawati Simanjuntak entitled “Transportation Control Model for the Central Market Area in Medan City.” The study aims to identify the main causes of congestion and transportation-related problems in the Central Market area of Medan City and to formulate transportation control solutions through a simulation-based approach using Vissim software.
The findings are expected to serve as a foundation for urban transportation planning, improve the comfort and accessibility of commercial areas, and support the development of a more effective, people-oriented, and sustainable transportation system in Medan City.
