Viory Hizkia Hutauruk, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), together with Muhammad Rizal Irfani, a student of Architecture at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, won Third Place in the student category of the LIXIL Architectural Design Competition (LADC) 2026. Before receiving the award, their work was selected as one of the Top 5 Nominees in the student category.

The team presented work coded LADC_M_036, entitled “The Urban Stitch of Prawirotaman Village.” The work was developed under the competition theme “Archipelago Dialogues: Architecture as a Space of Co-Creation,” organized by LIXIL in collaboration with the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI).

The team's participation resulted in a series of verified achievements, from being selected as one of the five best finalists and delivering a final presentation to ultimately winning Third Place at the LADC 2026 award ceremony. The collaboration between students from FT USU and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat also demonstrates the ability to work across higher education institutions in jointly developing architectural ideas.

This achievement most directly supports SDG 4: Quality Education through the development, presentation, and recognition of student work in a national competition. Cross-university collaboration also contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the exchange of ideas and expertise. Meanwhile, the potential benefits of the design for the area are presented as prospective, as there is currently no information indicating that the work has been implemented.

FT USU continues to encourage students to develop creative, contextual work that is connected to developments in the architectural profession. This achievement is expected to inspire other students to broaden their experiences, build collaborations, and bring architectural ideas and works from FT USU to increasingly wider forums.
