Medan, July 28, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), conducted a Socialization Session on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Recognition of Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) for the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Held at the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium, the event served as a platform to strengthen academic understanding and coordination in support of program implementation across the faculty.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, M.T., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosdanelli Hasibuan, M.T., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni; Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., Director of the Directorate of Educational Development; and Prof. Ir. Maya Sarah, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., Secretary of the Directorate of Educational Development. The session also involved the Heads and Secretaries of the study programs within FT USU, who play strategic roles in supporting program implementation and strengthening academic coordination at the departmental level.
The socialization focused on the implementation of the SDGs and the procedures for the Recognition of Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) for the 2026/2027 Odd Semester. Through the forum, participants gained a more comprehensive understanding of the program's objectives and implementation while aligning its application with the academic needs and learning management practices of their respective study programs.
The initiative is closely aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, as it seeks to strengthen the quality of learning management and enhance the academic community's understanding of more flexible and structured learning opportunities. The recognition of learning undertaken outside a student's home study program also broadens learning experiences while ensuring that the knowledge, skills, and learning outcomes acquired through such activities are formally recognized in accordance with applicable academic regulations.
Through this socialization session, FT USU reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of education through effective academic coordination, transparent and accountable learning governance, and the integration of sustainable development principles into higher education. The collaboration among the faculty leadership, the Directorate of Educational Development, and study program administrators is expected to support the effective, consistent, and sustainable implementation of the SDGs and the recognition of learning outside the study program.
