FT USU SARVision Team Wins Honorable Mention (Harapan I) at Indonesia Chip Hackathon Challenge 2026 ITB Innovation Park, October 23, 2026 – The SARVision team from the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FT USU), secured 4th place (Harapan I) among 10 national finalists at the Indonesia Chip Hackathon Challenge 2026 for their low-power AI accelerator chip design powering drone thermal-RGB search-and-rescue systems. 23 October 2026

Master's Program Students in Architecture FT USU Visit Manhattan Times Square to Study Mixed-Use Building Concepts Master's Program in Architecture, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Sumatera Utara, conducted a visit to a mixed-use building, namely Manhattan Times Square Mall and Condominium, in Medan City, as part of an assignment for the Architecture Design Studio 2 Course. This activity was initiated by the Head of the Master's Program in Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, USU, who also serves as the coordinator of the Architecture Design Studio 2 Course. The team was directly welcomed by the General Manager of Marketing at PT Greenland Garden Realty. This activity supports the achievement of SDG 11 through efforts to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. 22 October 2026

Demonstrating Social Responsibility, FT USU Lecturers Regularly Participate in Blood Donation Every Third Wednesday of the Month with H. Adam Malik Central General Hospital Through regular collaboration between USU and H. Adam Malik Central General Hospital Medan, lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering (FT USU) actively donate blood every third Wednesday (once every two months). Despite their busy teaching and research schedules, the lecturers make time to undergo medical examinations to help meet the hospital's blood supply needs for patients. This consistent initiative serves as tangible evidence of community service while inspiring the campus community to care for others and their own health. 21 October 2026

IMA FT USU Inaugurates Its 2026–2027 Management Board Leadership regeneration is necessary to ensure that student organizations can maintain continuity in their activities and institutional responsibilities. Accompanying the Regional Government of Deli Serdang Regency, FT USU Academics Escort Spatial Planning Direction and Resilient Ecotourism in the Percut Sei Tuan Coast A team of FT USU academics through the collaborative expertise of Urban and Regional Planning and Architecture accompanies the Regional Government of Deli Serdang Regency in formulating the coastal area development document for Percut Sei Tuan. This assistance focuses on coastal disaster mitigation, macro spatial planning formulation, as well as the master plan design of the priority area, The Coastal Edu-EcoTourism Center. This strategic program is elaborated into an integrated zoning plan that combines mangrove ecosystem restoration, resilient infrastructure development, and local economic empowerment. 20 October 2026
